The Mackenzie Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Process
This limited volume wine represents a single vineyard block where Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes grow side by side in deep red Tukulu soils.

Grapes were picked purely on taste. Then, because nothing but the best will do for The Mackenzie, only 10% of the purest Cabernet juice and 20% Merlot juice was drawn after crushing.

Each cultivar underwent malo separately in 100% new French oak, before being finally and decadently blended in an 86% Cabernet 9% Merlot and 5% Malbec ratio.

The Mackenzie Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot, our flagship red blend, recognizes the most recent family in a 400 year line of those who have sculpted Hartenberg into what has today become one of South Africa’s top ten wine estates.
