Occasional blanc de noir 2002

WINEMAKING

The wine is termed “Occasional” as it is only made in vintages where there is need to bleed off juice (a process known as saignée) so as to give increased colour and structure to the juice that remains.

The grapes were picked fully ripe and the resultant wine does not lack for flavour. The 2002 vintage conditions allowed for complete ripeness and as a result this full bodied example has the required volume of fruit to allow for a harmonious drink. ( If it didn’t the wine would taste very aggressive and have a “hot” character on the aftertaste ).

The Occasional Blanc de Noir 2002 is the ideal wine for the South African climate. Drunk well chilled it offers delicious berry flavours and the typical Hartenberg Estate weight and quality.
